Fuel Your Spirit with This Inspirational Quote

Courage is the most important of all virtues, because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.— Maya Angelou

Courage is the foundation of every act of love, justice, and faithfulness. Without it, kindness wavers. Without it, compassion hesitates. Without it, truth remains unspoken. It is courage that allows us to step forward, again and again, to live the virtues we long to embody.

Nicodemus is often remembered for coming to Jesus under the cover of night, but his story is one of profound bravery. He had much to lose—his status, his reputation, his place among the Pharisees—yet he still sought the truth. Later, when Jesus was crucified, Nicodemus reappeared, bringing burial spices fit for a king. His courage grew, he began to live boldly, until he no longer hid in the dark.

This Week’s Window to Wonder Creative Writing Prompt:

Make a list of Nicodemus’ courageous actions. What did his bravery look like? What did it cost him?

Then, think about one or two people from your own "brave list"—perhaps from last week, or someone who comes to mind today. Who inspires you with their boldness?

List their defining attributes—both physical and emotional. Are they steady in the face of fear? Do they speak with a quiet confidence? Do their hands move with care and strength?

Once you have your list, gather those words and craft them into something new—a poem, a short story, or even a reflection about Nicodemus, someone from your brave list, or perhaps even your own courage.

Because courage, like love, must be practiced. And the more we step into it, the more we become who we are meant to be.
